Convention Dates

This 23rd Biennial District #7 Convention and Lodge Meeting will be held in Prince George from Thursday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 5th, 2012.

The event will start off with the President’s Reception followed by a Question and Answer period on Thursday evening.

The District Lodge Meeting will start on Friday morning and continue on Saturday with the Installation of Officers and Directors scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Convention Venue

The Host Hotel is the Signature Sandman Hotel and Suites in Prince George.

It is located near the Highway 97 (north-south) and Highway 16 (east-west) intersection.

The Hotel is located in an open area near the Prince George Golf and Country Club.  Currently only one restaurant (the Rockford) is open in the Hotel.  Other restaurants are nearby though one would need to drive to them.

 

Hotel Rooms

There are 186 ‘suites’ in the hotel.  Of those, five suites are classed handicap accessible.  All suites have some level of kitchenette facilities.  The Hotel is completely smoke-free.  

We have selected six types of suites/rooms including the handicap accessible suites.  Other suite/room types are available.  For suite/room types and rates, please click on “room information”.

 

Please keep in mind that the quoted room rates are guaranteed until March 31, 2012.  We have a total of 115 room nights blocked off.  It is important also to contact the hotel directly to secure the rooms at the Convention rate.  The direct line to the Hotel Reservation in Prince George is 1-250-645-7263. (Note: There is no direct 1-800 phone number to this hotel). Please be sure to state group number 24560 Sons of Norway - when reserving room for the District Convention, in order to secure Convention Room rates."

 

Meeting Facilities

The Lodge Meeting Room is a medium size room that will accommodate 80 people in classroom style.  For dinner events it will accommodate up to 120 people.

Adjacent to the Meeting Room is the Cultural Room.  This is a much smaller room but will accommodate our Cultural Displays as well as some sales tables.

 

Meals

Lunches will be served in the foyer next to the meeting room; The President’s Reception on Thursday evening will be held in the Banquet Room and will have finger foods set out for the reception part of the evening; Friday evening dinner will be a Taste of Norway with a variety of traditional Norwegian foods set out on small buffet tables; Saturday evening will be our Banquet and Dance evening with a choice of three plated  meals plus special diet meal options.

 

Convention meal tickets will need to be purchased in advance.  This can be done through the registration process for both delegates and guests.  Advance meal ticket sales is necessary for meal planning by the Hotel catering service and the Convention Committee.  Please check out the Registration form for meal and event prices and meal reservation information.

 

Convention Raffle

Rondane Lodge will be conducting a Convention Raffle to offset some of the operational costs for the Convention.  We are asking for donated articles from Lodges and members to help us out.  If you are considering donating an article, please forward the item or a photo of the item to us by December 31, 2011.  This, in order that we can have required information available for the Raffle license. 

 

Raffle ticket prices will be $1 each.

Raffle ticket books (each of ten tickets) will be sent to all District #7 Lodges in late January.

Convention Booklet

Rondane Lodge will also be developing a Souvenir Convention Booklet.  This program will include information on the Convention and Lodge Meeting schedules, messages from the District Board and International  Headquarters and other interested parties.

We invite Lodges, members and friends to place ads in this booklet to present your greetings and messages for all Convention participants to enjoy.
